The middle finger on my right hand has a
topmost joint that sometimes causes a sharp
pain when flexed.

It's not swollen and only occurs sometimes.
But the momentary pain is very sharp.

Please help.

Peter...My name is Peter also :-) .  You didn't mention the classic "trigger
finger" symptoms besides the pain (snapping, catching, difficulty in
movement, etc), but try googling it anyway.  You may need a steroid
injection to help out.  Just a guess.  I'm not a doctor, and it could be
other things causing the problem.  You may want to visit an ortho if it
keeps bothering you and won't improve...Pete

Well, better people are called 'Peter' :--[)
and in the meantime I'll lookup 'trigger
finger', though it may be TSV because I use
that finger for the 'ctrlA' operation.
