How do you fake a sprained ankle?

Is there any way I could make my ankle look sprained? Would it be
believable if there wasn't a bunch of swelling and bruising?

On close examination or from a distance?

A couple of small, sharp stones in the shoe on that foot would probably do the
job for inspection from a distance.
