I am 22 years old. In November 2005 I injured my back. I had pain in
my buttocks and down my leg I did therapy for two months with not much
improvement. My MRI showed I have two Herniated Disc L 4-5, and L 5-1.
I met with a Nero Surgeon and the choice is mine weather to have
surgery or not. The pain has gotten better, but my questions are if I
don't have surgery will I be able to run and play sports? Also, is
there chance of having an active live style without surgery? Would I be
better off to have surgery? I know a few people that have gotten better
and having surgery down the road. I am looking for advice for how to
live the way I want to.
Thanks

Many people with herniated discs have no pain. It is way too soon to
make a decision on surgery. Make sure you keep doing the physical
therapy to build muscles and increase joint mobility.
