"The truth is that he was shot.
The truth is that the bullets came from her gun.
What is completely unknown is what motivated her."

Dear Ms.
Anne Bernays,

Please reprint your NYT's Book Review of Ms. Shana
Alexander's book on Ms.
Harris, a very nice school teacher,

Who went to jail ~ !

Drugs, sex, murder, books, &

... or is this just another
New York Ride ~ ?

"You know she claimed that she did not murder him. She claimed that it
was an accident and that was what the whole trial was about.

She was convicted of murder, but she said that it was her intention to
go and actually kill herself and that somehow in this struggle they
went through together, she ended up shooting him accidentally.

But she was convicted of murder and served twelve years in prison for
it. But she is a woman of enormous passion and I think one of the
things that intrigues people about Jean and certainly intrigued me was
so many of the things that she did seemed to be contrary to her own
interests.

Yet she was absolutely committed.

For instance in the court room when she was on trial for murdering
Herman Tarnower, her attorney desperately wanted to bring up all the
supposed terrible things that he had done to her, that many people felt
were justifiable to bring up and she wouldn't allow that. She didn't
want anything bad said about him.

Even when she was on trial for murdering him. So, she is a woman that
is an enigma. I could never come to a conclusion about her."
~ Annette Bening

Annette,
Ms. Harris was addicted to diet pills, which Dr.
Tarnover, her lover, prescribed for her.

But her lover was f.cking somone else,
and she was ghostwriting a book for him.

And Dr. Tarnover abused Ms. Harris.

Ms. Harris was suicidal, and likely, due
to cognitive and emotional impairment, related
to both abuse and the fact that her abuser
provided her with the drugs,

and likely, she did not have a reliable
psychiatrist

during such a time of Lethal Crisis.

And she was sucidal, and there was a loaded
gun in the house.

I hope that helps.

All the very best, Annette ~

There was no ghostwriter for "The Scarsdale Medical Diet" as, instead,
the book's actual author, Tarnower's 50%/50% partner for that project,
was Samm Sinclair Baker, a then noted diet book and "self-help" book
writer whose name as author appears prominently on the cover and title
page and advertisements for all published copies of the book.

Tarnower's other lover than Harris, Lynn Tryfooros never claimed to
participate in the book's writing and, in fact, she did not do so.

From time to time during the Tarnower-Baker collaboration in writing
the book, Jean Harris tried gratuitously to interject herself by
giving notes to Tarnower about the draft which he in turn gave to
Baker whereupon, in each instance, and without his bothering even to
look at them, Baker promptly tore up deposited into his "circular
file" (a/k/a, garbage).

Harris did not write a single word that appeared in the Tarnower-Baker
best-seller, except, perhaps, for the coincidence that she may have
used words like "the" or "and" or "it" in her unilaterally proffered
notes and those words do appear in various places in the published
book.

There is nothing funny about
Insanity ~

And it can happen to YOU
Under certain circumstances ...

Any Healthy Mind
Under circumstances of relentless Abuse

Will eventually go INSANE
To protect itself.

The only other option
Is SUICIDE.
