Tinnitus and external sounds

I've had tinnitus for as long as I can remember. It doesn't interfere
with my life in a big way, I normally hear it when I go to bed and
external sounds are minimal.

What I noticed is that recently I have begun finding the sound of the
cymbal unpleasant. This started happening approximately 5 months ago
and it comes and goes.

I was wondering if this is caused by my tinnitus. Could it be that
some harmonic from the cymbal sound is tuning with my tinnitus thus
amplifying it?

Please note that as I grew up I had lots of problems with my throat
and so I would get my ears checked by a doctor frequently enough.

I have found that I need to wear earplugs when taking the glass
recyclables to the bin and dumping them in.  I have never had problems
with cymbals as long as they are at a moderate volume by my ear.  If the
unpleasant comes and goes check your diet and stress level.  Maybe
meditation and healthy eating would fix it.

I don't have an answer, only anecdotes. I have constant tinnitus
(sometimes loud enough to make hearing difficult, but not often) and
some inner ear damage from severe inner ear infections. Some frequencies
set off a sort of unpleasant 'buzzing' that is almost like feedback; I
have no idea if it is due to the tinnitus or the other problem.

I'll also add, though you probably already know this, that tinnitus can
be a symptom of high blood pressure so if it hasn't been checked, it
might be a good idea. It can also be just one of things. Ask a doctor
for an opinion that means anything!
