Hi. I am an 18 year old college student and this is quite embarrassing for me
to type, but here it goes. For the last month, I have been itching my body,
mainly my pubic region. At first, I thought it was because I shaved down
there and I had razor burn, but as time progressed, I became more and more
worried what the problem could be. I was searching on webMD tonight, and saw
the symptoms for pubic lice. It has been a month since this first started, so
should I do treatment before I see a doctor at my college's health center, or
should I go see a doctor first? Please let me know. Thank you.

I'll have to get back to you in a week or so.
Hold tight.

If the problem is lice, you don't need a doctor to diagnose and treat it.
You should be able to see the lice, although they are quite small and
cling to the hairs.  They are probably crab lice, which look like tiny
crabs about the size of a pinhead.

You can buy remedies for lice at a drugstore.  Ask the pharmacist, as
they are usually kept behind the counter.  Follow the instructions
carefully, including the ones about disinfecting clothing and bedding.
Yes, it's embarrassing to ask, but lice are a common problems, and the
staff is used to people asking about them.  Crab lice *are* something
you can pick up from a toilet seat or elsewhere, so they aren't a
sign of a, hmmm, disreputable lifestyle.

Mortein fly spray is the way to go.
Waft on a bit in the morning and leave on all
day.

Mortein is good for head lice too.  Also it
gives the hair a wonderful polish as a side
effect.
