Does anybody out there know what the supposed world record for
live births for one woman is? I would have thought this
was a simple thing to search for with google, but I had no
luck with any of the half-dozen search strings I tried.

Try the Guiness Book of World Records. IIRC, there was some poor
woman in North Africa who kept having triplets and quadruplets,
for many years. I think she had over 60 children. I don't know
how well documented this was, so it may not be true.
