When I moved into my apartment six years ago, my landlord provided
me with a new
microwave oven, since the regular oven thermostat was too costly to
repair. I have been
using both microwave oven and the stovetop to cook with. I noticed
the microwave oven
has become a bit deteriorated in appearance over time but I believe a
sufficient cleaning
task as often as possible should solve the dilemma of whether the
microwave is now
more deadly than beneficial and poses health risks. The truth is I
must put up with
the microwave and the stovetop until I one day decide to move...

Oh good grief... Cough up $100 and get yourself a new microwave oven if it
scares you, or if that is too much try spending $15 on a toaster oven.  Here
try this:

I also have a crockpot which was given to me a long time ago but
I've never used it as yet; I may look into
using it. Actually I have a new microwave I bought last year but put
into storage in the basement.

I'll clean the one my landlord gave me for the time being. Some of
the interior has been deteriorated by spills
of cooking but I think I can deal with it around year-one and a half at
most.
