Follicles of scalp

Hi, I would like to have a scalp that looks like
Yule Brinner's--you know a totally hairless scalp.

I suppose I could go to my dermatologist who offers
laser treatments, or to an electrologist.  But I
would rather save the thousands of dollars, if
possible, and treat myself.

It can't be difficult to rid your scalp of its
hair follicles, can it?  In my case, most of my
follicles are on the side of my scalp--I have
very few follicles left on top; just the sides.

This sounds like a simple question, but would
sandpaper work to eliminate the follicles?  If
not, what might?  This would be much cheaper and
faster than seeing my dermatologist's laser technician
or an electrologist.

Thanks very much for any help.

Try visiting your local military aresenal and see if they'll loan you a
flamethrower for a few hours.  If that doesn't work, the old can of gas and
matches trick should get the job done.

Make sure you're not too far from a hospital, though.

My question may sound silly, but it is asked in
all seriousness.  There must be a homemade and easier
way to permanently (or even temporarily) eliminate
your scalp's follicles?

Thanks

Wouldn't a sanding belt work better than tediously using a peice of
sandpaper?

Or you  could just take the easy way out and grow more face and body hair
which will rob the sides of your head of nutrients and they'll fall out
that way.

What about very small amounts of hydrochloric acid (you
know, this is the pure non-contaminated form of the
muriatic acid you'll find at a hardware store).

I would never use the tainted muriatic acid (who knows
what contaminants it may contain), but small amounts of
hydrochloric acid applied a little at a time, say
one-quarter square inch at a time might work???

I'll probably go to my dermatologist's laser tech, but
I'd sure prefer a homemade remedy.  Would the hydrochloric
work?

LMAO...You are going to use hydrchloric acid and you're worried about
contaminants?? Why not just use sulfuric acid and it will dehydrate the
skin to the extent the follicle will die from a lack of moisture.Or just
try a duct tape wrap till the follicles just shrivell up?

I'm guessing any abrasive chemical you put on your scalp to kill the
follicles won't be the greatest thing for the skin of your scalp.  If the
laser doesn't work (assuming they'd even do it), you should just get used to
the idea of shaving.

Then do it the way Yul Brynner did -- shave your head.

Thanks for the suggestion.  How would that
work?  I mean how would one apply the duct tape
and why would the follicles shrivel up?

search this newsgroup for a recipe called "the oZ brew"

it will remove all hair follicles after a few uses

I tried a weak version of the Oz brew and I didn't lose any hair
follicles.  Don't seem to remember anyone else that used the
full-strength recipe claiming they lost all their hair follicles
either.  Got any links?

Hmm, what about excisement or debridement of
the scalp's layer of skin containing the
follicles?

    Plastic surgeons regularly debride folks
of their lumps of excess fat around the waist.
Has anyone ever heard of scalp tissue being
excised or debrided?

    Thanks.

Yes it is.  Lasers/flashlamps or electrolysis are pretty much it to
get rid of unwanted follicles.   And even they take repeated
applications.

>This sounds like a simple question, but would
>sandpaper work to eliminate the follicles?

No.  The follicles go extremely deeply into the scalp.  Even
Electrolysis and light treatments only consistently cause permanant
follicular oblation during early anagen.  Which is why treatment has
to be done on a repeated schedule.  Roughtly,   first zap the
follicles to get them synchronized,  then repeat several weeks later
as they start to regrow.

>If not, what might?

The simplest solution is to just shave your scalp.
