Obviously there should be no express or implied quid pro quo.
I've treated some families my whole career, occasionally 4 generations.
I love some of these people. They've given me gifts for my daughter,
I've been introduced to my wife through another.
I'm sure the dynamic is very different for a psychiatrist though.

Yeh, gifts and cards from patients. Pretty common.
