A few questions about HERNIA TRUSSES.

My cousin has an inguinal hernia.  Actually... he has had this for over
5 years.  It does occasionally extend down into his scrotum.  Although
the hernia is fairly large, it is easily reducible.  The only thing I
don't like is when he pushes it back in, all those "squishy" sounds I
hear.  He laughs it off.

It is only mildly painful he tells me.  I know, and he know that
surgery is the only correct way to deal with this but for right now he
isn't going that route because of insurance reasons and some other
personal reasons.

Ok...  I am trying to find something that he has explained to me... but
I don't know if such an animal exists.  He would like to wear something
like a belt around his abdomin which would give some support of some
sorts.  He does NOT wanna use one of those hernia TRUSSES that go
around the upper leg and pelvic area.  He just wants something like a
BELT, maybe anywhere from 3 to 5 inches wide... to keep the hernia in.

Actually... it is fairly easily to keep the hernia in.  He walks alot,
and all he has to do is apply some light to moderate pressure with his
hand and his hernia stays where it's supposed to.  The problem is....
when he does this people might think he's doing something obscene....
lol

So... in closing, do the make any type of belt, like an elastic and/or
velcro type that is a simple abdominal wrap around without all that
other stuff with it?

Thanks  .... any suggestions appreciated.

PS:  I guess what we are looking for would be described as a simple,
non-invasive abdominal support belt.

I would suggest going to a medical supply store. They can look through their
catalogues and might find something your cousin would consider suitable. If
they don't have it in the catalogue, then it probably doesn't exist.

By the way, you might consider a Google search on "hernia belt". That turns
up a lot of information and AFAIK shows virtually every buckle, elastic and
velcro device imaginable for the futile task of keeping one's intestines
from protruding through a very large indirect inguinal hernia.
