The NY Times is copyrighted. So, it is illegal to post the article online
without the permission of the copyright holder.
After all, why should the article be free online? The NYT has to make money,
too.

It's free, but you have to register. Says so when you click one of the
op-ed titles. I signed in and was able to read it.
