this small fly flew into my right eye this morning and got stuck. i'm
not kidding. i had to go to the bathroom to get him out.
anyway, my eye really hurts now. could the bug have done this or is it
a coincidence

It depends on how you removed the
"foreign object" from the eye. You
should have put the eye under the
tap marked "H" and let the stream
of warm water irrigate the ocular
area

Very small scratches to the surface of the eye can hurt a lot. Fortunately,
they usually heal quickly.
It's been a couple of days since you posted. If the pain and irritation
aren't gone by now, go to a doctor. You don't want to take a chance on
damaging your vision.

Do you need someone to tell you that if your eye was injured and is
now infected and oozing pus, you should go to a doctor? Okay, I have.
You're going to feel pretty stupid if you lose vision in the eye. Note
that there's a really ugly tendency for an infection in one eye to spread
to the other one, so you could go blind.
Get the eye looked at and treated while you can still read text on a
monitor, okay? It's had a chance to clear up on its own and it hasn't.
