Hope this doesnt sound to silly but my brothers pet hamster has been a
bit lethargic lately. The rectal thermometer wont fit and the bp cuff
nearly squashed him...so Ill just..... ask... can the avian flu mutate
to effect hamsters?

Golly I hope the government spends several billion of our tax dollars
on some hamster vaccine too....

On the front lines of the flu fight

10/19/2005

"Novavax, a small company based in Malvern, Pa., is exploring
innovative ways to produce vaccines. Its system extracts genes from a
virus and then uses insect cell lines to rearrange those genes into
forms that trigger immune systems against the virus. Novavax says this
process has created a vaccine that works against avian flu in rodents.
But the company won't venture a guess on when a vaccine might come to
market."
