Sometimes, I get this non itching red blotches on my upper body, mainly
concentrated on my chest. They don't bother me, except for the fact that they
are hideously unsightly. After a few minutes, (no longer than 40 usually)
they go away without a trace. Any suggestions as to what this is, and how to
get rid of it?

Hives, would be my guess.

Look at:

Keep a food diary and see what you are eating that triggers the blotches,
and then omit it from your diet.

Should work fine, unless it's one of several other reasons why he might be
developing hives. Assuming that it IS hives...

Does it happen after sexual activity?  Most women and some men get red
blotches during/after sex mostly over the neck and upper torso, without
any associated symptoms.  This sounds more likely than hives, which I
believe are generally raised and itchy.  It's gone 5 minutes after you
climax, but it sticks around longer if you don't.

I have been with this guy (not sexually) but that could be it. It can't be
any foods, or medications. I have already checked that. These blotches do
have a fever though. and they are mainly concentrated around my chest. not
anywhere else.

If only all our unsightly aspects would disappear without a trace after
a few minutes! ;-)

If it happens after sun exposure it might be solar urticaria, or a
similar allergic reaction to materials generated by the sun with stuff
you've put on your skin, like cosmetics, sunblock, or the juices of
certain plants, including citrus and a number of weeds.

If it gets worse or more frequent, or you start having more dangerous
symptoms like swelling of your face or mouth or wheezing, seeing a
doctor about it would be a very good idea.

I'm not a doctor, but when this happened to me a few times this past
summer, I looked it up on google.  If you search on "solar urticaria"
or "hives" "sun" "chest", and read some of the hits, you'll know as
much about it as I do.

Hello,
It's possible that you may have devoloped an allergic reaction to the
phosphates which are used in many laundry detergents. You should try to
find a brand such as Woolite that does not contain phosphates. You should
see a doctor if none of the advice that you have received solves your
problems.
