If the urine is colorless I would doubt very much there is a stone
'stuck' in the ureter, as this usually causes dark, bloody urine. Not
always, of course, if the stone is small and be sure to check with a
real doctor for real medical advice.

Beer is usually recommended, though I can say from personal experience
(15+ years of passing stones every 30-45 days) that pain, even severe
pain can linger for a few days once the stone has passed.

REP,
I have also noticed that beer is effective. But I don't like
the taste of alcohol. After three
days of pain of 1 to 3 range 1-10, the object passed
as a result of 200mg of Ibuprofen. Since the pain was minor but bad
enough to keep me awake at night, I
figured I did not need to wait to ask the VA for codeine.
I can tolerate 200mg of Ibuprofen which works fine for
minor pain. I took the caplet with 12 oz of water, I went to sleep and
one hour later the stone had passed. So the tension created by pain is
what held
the stone in that one spot about 2-3 inches below the
kidney! And the Merck (1997) says nada about the
efficacy of painkillers in moving stones. It says only:
drink cranberry and other juices; walk briskly, and
drink 1.3 liters of water per diem. It does say that a blocked urethra
results in a urine flow that dribbles instead of streams.
Thanks for your advice,
David H
