All clients have the right:

* To be treated at all times with respect, dignity, and concern for
their well-being

* To not be judged for any behaviors they had used to cope, either at
the time of the trauma or following the trauma

* To refuse treatment, unless failure to receive treatment places them
at risk of harm to self or others

* To be treated as collaborators in their own treatment plans

* To informed consent before receiving any treatment

* To not be discriminated against based on race, culture, sex,
religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, disability, or age

* To have all reasonable promises kept

In addition to general information provided to all new clients,
traumatized clients presenting for psychotherapy should also receive
information on:

* the possible short-term and long-term effects of trauma treatment on
the client and the client's relationships with others

* the amount of distress typically experienced with any particular
trauma treatment

* possible iatrogenic effects of a particular trauma treatment

* the possibility of lapses and relapses when doing trauma work and
clarify that these are a normal part of healing and are to be expected

Take care to avoid any statements that the clients might perceive as
indicating that they are to blame for having "failed" to recover.

Dual relationships

Dual relationships are to be avoided as much as possible.

"Dual" includes concurrent and sequential relationships.

Inform clients from the start that sexual or romantic relationships are
forbidden in professional ethical codes.

"Third, in no way are we suggesting that trauma is "good."

We regard life crises, loss and trauma as undesirable, and our wish
would be that nobody would have to experience such life events.

Fourth, posttraumatic growth is neither universal nor inevitable.
Although a majority of individuals experiencing a wide array of highly
challenging life circumstances experience posttraumatic growth, there
are also a significant number of people who experience little or no
growth in their struggle with trauma.

This sort of outcome is quite acceptable--we are not raising the bar on
trauma survivors, so that they are to be expected to show posttraumatic
growth before being considered recovered."

Lamentations ~

"1:1
How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people!
How is she become as a widow!
She that was great among the nations,
And princess among the provinces,
How is she become tributary!

1:2
She weepeth sore in the night,
And her tears are on her cheeks:
Among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her:
All her friends have dealt treacherously with her,
They are become her enemies."

"And behavior on the remotest ridges of experience,
May end in death, yet some artists and explorers feel
No choice but to go there.

The toll of suicide on artists, writers, scientists,
And mathematicians, and others strongly influential
In their societies is powerful."

"AnComm is an encrypted web based messaging service that opens two-way
lines of communication between students and school administrators. As
an early warning system, it addresses topics of concern and identifies
solutions.

The dialogue it creates is critical in eliminating race, religious,
social or gender biases. More importantly, it gives the unreachable
child a voice and breaks the code of silence through anonymous
communication.

Ancomm, Inc. purchased the non-profit Safety Organization for Schools
(SOS) in 2005. SOS originally developed the service as a response to
increasing media reports of tragic events occurring in America's
schools, such as the Columbine and Pearl High School tragedies.

Beta testing began in 2001 at James Bowie High School in Austin, Texas.
The students actively participated in developing the software to fit an
educational environment. Within two weeks of implementing SOS, an
impending suicide was reported and prevented.

Since that time, our service has helped children deal with numerous
issues,
ranging from:

· Bullying

· Violence

· Drug Abuse

· Depression

· Eating Disorders

· Sexual Harassment

· Suicide

· Discrimination

· Peer Pressure

· Pregnancy

· Alcohol Abuse

· Mental Illness in Schools

Nancy Day, Director of Student Services at Waco Independent School
District,
said ~

"We feel like we would have lost three students to suicide last year
had it not been for the SOS Program."
