nipple rings - 04 Sep 2005 03:10 GMT
Hi everyone,

Does anyone know of any serious risks associated with a female having her
nipples pierced? I am 20 years old, and I have had mine pierced for a little
over a year. They were professionally done (horizontally)and have only had
stainless steel rings in them since day one (never been taken out or changed).
I take good care of them and have never had an infection and they are cleaned
everyday. I have never experienced any pain or bleeding with them either. I
was told by my piercer that even if she did pierce through a breast feeding
milk duct that it wouldnt matter as there are so many, that it wont cause
damage and I wont have any problems breast feeding in the future.

Does anyone know of any risks or problems I may run into in the future?
Perhaps some testimonials?

Thanks! !

Is your primary concern future breastfeeding?  What made you start to worry
about this now? IMO doctors are generally a lousy source for breastfeeding
advice.  (No offense intended to the docs here.)  You'll get much more
useful info from a lactation consultant (preferably with a medical
background), a nurse midwife, or an experienced bf mom.

The following links address concerns about breastfeeding with healed nipple
piercings.

Are they not teaching you kids how to google in school?

Why are you asking this question a year AFTER the piercing?
