Went over to my friends house last night, for what was supposed to be
just a little gathering with a few beers and whatnot. Well, one thing
led to another, and I ended up consuming like 10 beers. Woke up this
mourning and now I have what look like freckles on both sides of my
face. What the hell is this, and will it go away???

Hello,
When I was a little kid, I would get freckles every summer. My father told
me that it was because of playing outside in the bright sunshine. By the
time winter would come, most of the freckles would be gone but they would
come back the following summer. I don't know whether or not my father was
right. I am not a doctor. I don't think that you have anything to worry
about. However, during your next visit to your doctor, ask him or her if
there is a problem. There may be a special kind of makeup to cover the
freckles. I did not worry about them.

You apparently have a death wish, so I wouldn't sweat the freckles. Get
to a cemetery right away.

You probably puked and retched and developed petechiae on your cheeks.
They will go away.

Dr. Riley, are you sure they're not freckles? As Jason suggests, this could
be a case of hyper-acute alcohol-induced frecklosis.

Ephelides facialis secondary to EtOH is clearly Jason's diagnosis.

Jim,
Thanks for making me laugh. Needless to say--I don't have a clue as to the
meaning of Ephelides facialis or EtOH. I was talking about regular
freckles. When I was a child, I would get them every summer. None of the
people in my school (including teachers) ever worried about the children
that developed freckles.

It could be xanthoma, a symptom of cholestasis (Obstructive Jaundice)
that caused freckle type things, but they're usually raised.

http://www.merck.com/mrkshared/mmanual/section4/chapter38/38b.jsp :

"Intrahepatic cholestasis is suggested by symptoms of hepatitis, heavy
alcohol ingestion, recent use of potentially cholestatic drugs, or
signs of chronic hepatocellular disease (eg, spider nevi, splenomegaly,
ascites)."
