I'd go with Vanderbilt's opinion,
without knowing specific details on this condition, etc.
Surgery may indeed cause unnecessary
complications, and often, should be a last option, due to risk.
Not knowing more on the topic,
I would say ~ Get MANY opinions.
And unless, there are serious problems
related to your slow motility, try fiber, exercise, acidolphilus.
U of Louisville has a great rep for transplant surgery
I know that.
Be wary of surgery, unless absolutely necessary.
And select the hospital with the best track record,
on that form of surgery.
What sort of lap?
What is the surgical goal?

It would remove most of the colon and attach the end of the small
intesting to the last bit of large intesting.
My muscles on the ascending colon are not workign right.
Just curious, why would you choose a gastro doc at Vandy than
Louisville?
This bloating is just killing me. I have tired everythign, even
prescriptions. The gasto doc here said there is nothing left but
surgery.
It is funny, I asked him if it can be done laproscopically. He said no.
Surgeons at Vandy and Lousivile have said it can be.
