Hemorrhoid advice needed

Around this time last year I got a hemorrhoid, it was a thrombosed
external one and was quite large, and extremely uncomfortable.

In the last few days I've got another one, yet it's very different to
the other. The previous one was outside the anus, yet this one is
smaller (pea size) and just inside the entrance to the anus. What type
is this?

Now, I'm not quite sure how to treat this. This is because with my
hemorrhoid last time, I did everything under the sun-never put pressure
on it, sat down and slept in awkward positions to not put pressure on,
had sitz baths, used all sorts of ointments, ice and even crackpot
solutions like grated potato (!). To be honest, it barely even went
away. Now the odd thing is, that whilst I still had it (around 3 weeks
or so after it appeared) I went on holiday, and couldn't stop myself
from putting pressure on it as I had a 12 hour plane flight. After
that, I couldn't not sit down on holiday etc. Now the thing is, when I
did this it remarkably shrunk over a few days and had gone by about the
3rd-4th day on holiday. So I am thinking that if you kind of ignore
them and act as normal, they'll go away quickly.

So with this one, though it certainly isn't as bad (I can't even feel
it that much when sitting down), I'm trying the method of almost
completely ignoring it. All I'm doing is upping fibre intake so stools
don't worsen it, taking a few aspirin a day (will this do anything?)
and I was also emailed this advice last year, though I only read it
when I returned from holiday:

"I have a very simple cure for hemorrhoids that I'm sure you will find
quite
astonishing.

Stand with your feet together and tense all the muscles in the area,
such
as buttocks and the upper thighs and stomach, for one minute.

Then stand with your feet six inches apart and tense all the muscles
again
for another minute.

Then stand with your feet one foot apart and tense all the again for
another minute.

It's quite a strenuous exercise and you should be a little exhausted by
the
time you are finished, but by now the pain will already have
diminished.
Repeat the exercise regularly, and within a day or two the hemorrhoids
should be gone."

I've been doing this then for the past few days, I only noticed the
hemorrhoid on friday night so can't really say whether it's working.
However, why would these exercises work, and are they successful? And
will almost 'ignoring' the hemorrhoid as I described above, make it
work? As avoiding all pressure on it and slapping on every ointment
going didn't seem to do a thing last time...though this seems to be a
different kind.

Thanks for any help...

I don't know about the exercise in question.
One thing that may help you, besides eating at least 30-35g of fiber/day
is to avoid all products made from/with wheat flour. White bread is
especially bad.
