I use this medicine to relieve severe congestion during the spring.
However, given the course of recent legislation, I am afraid that this
medicine may no longer be readily-available to me in the future.
Hence, I have two questions-
-If I stock up on Sudafed and other such drugs now, how can I best
preserve them such that I can use them well beyond their expiry dates?
Is this safe or possible?
-How is pseudoephedrine hydrochloride itself manufactured? What is the
nature of its production process? Would it be possible, or legal, for
an independent chemist to produce pseudoephedrine hydrochloride
suitable for use as a decongestant medication?

I wouldn't worry. In GA, they changed the law requiring that it be held
behind the counter. You have to ask for it, but you can still get it.
I think most other states that regulate the sales of psuedophredrine will
make it available, but you will have to ask for it. You will still be able
to get it.
