What do These Symptoms Mean?

Got a phone call from the guy who waorks on my house requesting a ride to
the va hospital. He complained of
lack of inability to breathe, spitting blood anf thick plume, "dry mouth"
wakes up at night very thirsty and drinks water or green tea then still
thirsty.  The doc at the va hospital told him the problems were "caused by
pollen." Didnot take a chest x-ray or perform a tb test.  I don't want him
to work at my place until he's checked medically for TB.  Is this a
reasonable request?   What else might cause these symptoms?

Mike,
I suggest that you take him to the emerg. ward of one of the local
hospitals. Please don't trust anyone in any newsgroup to tell you what is
wrong with him. I'm not a doctor or medical expert.

Good point, but he doesn't want to go back to the hospital.

Mike, I think if you're concerned that this person might be too sick
to work, you might have him get a note from a doctor before he comes
back in.  There are many things that could cause those symptoms--some
serious and some minor.  However, neither you nor I could diagnose
what is wrong or refute what he was told without more information.

Sounds like a serious lung problem.  Go to another doctor.

I agree.

He's kind of an outsider type of person.  I don't believe anybody can make
him go to the hospital
and I believe by letting him work for me I'm reinforcing him not going to
the hospital.  I was hoping to get some information
re: what the symptoms might be indicative of thinking he might respond to
something concrete eg, "your symptoms might mean you have . . . ."
