Maralgia Paresthetica Question

My pcp says I have MP and my ortho said the same.
The pcp says it does not go away... the ortho says it does.
I have it above my left knee to my outer thigh.  It does not bother me
except when I go to sleep ( I sleep on my stomach).  It begins to feel like
currents of electricity running up and down.  Not painful but enough to keep
my awake.
Will it go away? and is there anything I can take for it.

Thanks, Ken

Meralgia paresthetica sometimes goes away and sometimes does not.
Patients are usually advised to avoid further injury to the nerve by
avoiding wearing clothing that is too tight at the waist. Even if it
does go away, it may take many months to improve.

Very often, even if the symptoms persist, people will cease being
troubled by them. If someone finds that the symptoms do remain
disturbing, certain classes of medications may be helpful in reducing
the perception of the symptoms.

When/how did it start? Injury related or gradual/idiopathic?

Is this the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve?

Meralgia paresthetica is a rather older term for this neuralgia.
