Just had a colonoscopy for the first time about 2 hours ago. What a
piece of cake--even the prep wasn't bad.
Anyone who has been delaying because of fear shouldn't--it's nothing to
worry about. Take it from a first-class baby.

Plus you get given some nice drugs :)
I think the prep is the worst part of a colonoscopy, really.

Just make sure you have a bathroom dedicated to yourself for about 3 or 4
hours while you're taking all those laxatives the day before. :(

The cramping was only significant for me for maybe 1 1/2- 2 hrs. And I
caught up on some reading! ;-)

They put you on amnesia drugs. It was probably horrible, you just
don't remember it.

I have heard hideous rumours about the poor unconscious patients being
injected with compressed air to the degree that they resemble Blimps!
And therefore after the procedure some patients fly about the room like
escaped party balloons...!!!
At the very least they all suffer from colic and flatulence!

That is, of course possible. But since both my wife and brother have
been awake for colonoscopies and their descriptions were of only rather
mild discomfort, I rather doubt it was horrible on any level.
