hi.
i'm 19 years old, male.

it appears that my forehead hair line is receding (laterally, not on
the center), and i am losing hair on the back/top of my head.

i have a relatively full life, but i wouldn't go as far as to say it's
all that stressful.

i don't eat many fruits, but then again, i never really did.

the hair that i DO have seems to be quite strong, dunno!

could you please give me advice? al sorts of advice.
be it related to:

1) food
2) daily habits
3) little things to do (massage the scalp, or something...)
4) treatments

thank you very much!

Sahba,
It's a common problem--it's called Male Pattern Baldness. It's in your
genes and there is nothing you can do to prevent it. They sell an
expensive product (over the counter) at almost all drug stores that can
slow it down. I think that it is called REGAIN or REGAINE or something
like that. You probably have some people in your family (e.g. father,
grandfathers) that are bald. You inherited it from them. You may want to
do a google search on Male Pattern Baldness. Don't buy anything but
Regaine because those products don't work.

Ah, Jason, once again you prove that you are both ignorant, and not
afraid to reveal the fact.  Please stop giving medical advice on the
net.

The product you're thinking of is called "Rogaine" and it's not really
that expensive any more.  You can go to Costco and buy four bottles
for about twenty bucks, according to my research.

In addition, you are quite wrong (as usual) about there being no other
alternatives.  The prescription drug "Propecia" works quite well for
some people, and there is at least one up-and-coming drug that may be
slightly better (though it's a lot more expensive).

In any event, it would also be a good idea for the original poster to
check with his doctor, just to make sure there isn't some other
reason, perhaps something more serious, for his hair to be falling
out.  It's not unheard of for a male to start going bald at 19; I knew
a guy in college who had about as much hair as President Eisenhower.
But it's unusual.

MOTHER'S GENES TO BLAME FOR MEN GOING BALD EARLY

Sons may blame their fathers when they start balding prematurely but new
research suggests it may be caused by the mother's genes.

Scientists have discovered a gene that plays a crucial role in male hair
loss on the X chromosome. Men always...
