Naprosyn and Tendinitis Questions

Hello. I am a 31-year-old male.

For a month or more, I have had pain in my left thumb. One situation in
which this pain occurs is when I use the left hand to grasp a bottle.
My doctor has diagnosed this pain as tendinitis.

The doctor suggested that I take Naprosyn for the tendinitis.
Specifically, I should take 2 375mg tablets per day, for 2 weeks.

To counteract the upset-stomach side effects of Naprosyn, the doctor
gave me 40mg Protonix tablets. I should take 1 Protonix tablet per day.

Well, I have found that an upset stomach is not the only side effect of
Naprosyn.

The following website lists all the possible side effects:

http://www.healthsquare.com/newrx/nap1283.htm

Some effects are dizziness, drowsiness, heart failure, liver problems,
and abdominal bleeding.

The generic version of Naprosyn is Naproxen, which has the same side
effects, as the following website describes:

http://www.spineuniverse.com/print.php/article1191.html

The side effects described in these websites seem very extreme.
Is there any medication that can relieve the pain of tendinitis without
these serious side effects?

If I take Naprosyn for 2 weeks, will the pain relief be temporary or
permanent?

Six years ago, I had a wisdom tooth pulled, and I used Vicodin for the
pain.
I did not have any serious side effects from Vicodin.
So, does that mean that I can take Naprosyn with no serious side
effects?

Also, should I take the brand-name Naprosyn or the generic Naproxen?
Is it possible that the generic Naproxen will have fewer side effects
than the brand-name Naprosyn?

Thank you for any information.

Try icing it every hour or so for a while. Very effective and very
safe.
