Tylenol "nighttime" that was anything but!

Last night marks the second time in the past four months that I have
taken two Tylenol Cold & Flu nighttime tablets before falling asleep
and woken up that night with an insane adrenaline rush.  What's going
on with me?

I got a spring cold a few days ago and to help me sleep better last
night I took two tablets and went to bed.  Around 1:00 a.m. I woke up
and felt like I'd just been injected with a caffeine overdose.  Even
back in college when I was popping Nodoze to stay awake it wasn't this
bad!

Whatever it was, it kept me up until about 4:00 a.m.  Then I was able
to go back to sleep.  FWIW, I went to sleep on an empty stomach and
felt very hungry when I woke up.  I looked up the side effects to
Tylenol nighttime and that's not one of them.  Anyone have an idea why
my body reacted so weirdly?  I can't risk taking that stuff anymore.

I got that reaction when I tried sudafed ... I woke up in the middle of
the night wanting to run accross the city... I took look a the side of
the package and one of the side-effects was "anxiety" or something like
that... this was two years ago

I remember now, it was "extreme excitablity"

Tylenol Cold and Flu nighttime contains pseudophedrine (the activite
ingredient in Sudafed), which has this side effect in some, but not all,
people.

Yes, that's it exactly!  Thanks for putting a name to what I went
through.  Now that I know what it's called I did a search and came up
with this interesting story, which sounds exactly like what happened to
me:

"May cause excitability, especially in children" is a pretty mild
warning compared to what I actually felt like.  It was 1:00 a.m. and I
wanted to run a marathon.  The time before was even worse.  I did push
ups until I was physically exhausted, but I was still wired.  And I
kept having these tingling "waves" of enery rush through my body.  Very
weird stuff.

Thanks again,
Dan.
