TPO Anitibodies came back at 104..
FT3 and FT4 smack in the middle of
range.. TSH 1.7
The endo told me that the antibodies will destroy me thyroid...But my TSH
FT3 and FT4 are all normal.
Is there any reason to begin medication now if all tests are within range.
Shouldn't I wait unit TSH rises.
Can somebody please explain this to me...How can my thyroid be damaging
itself when all tests are normal.

Thanks, Ken

It is a gradual process.  The antibodies slowly interfere with thyroid
function and often the thyroid enlarges over years to compensate.
Thus the thyroid tests remain normal, but your gland may get bigger
and bigger.  We don't believe that giving thyroid hormone stops the
destruction, but it reduces the development of a goiter..>H2
