Doctors differ on suffering by dying vegetative patients
Her skin is flaky, tongue dry and eyes sunken. Doctors say Terri
Schiavo could survive another week without food or water, but is the
brain-damaged Florida woman suffering? On that point, expert opinion
varies widely.

When we have a pet that we love very much, one that is sick and may be
dying, one that may or may not be conscious, what do we do?  Most of us
take it to the vet, and have a vial of pink juice injected into them, and
our beloved companion does drift off into a peaceful drug haze from which
they do not wake up.

Now, let's turn the tables a bit.  What happens when Fido is sick, so we
just toss him in the backyard in a pen with no food and water and wait for
him to die?  We get a fine, maybe some jail time.  Why?  BECAUSE IT'S
FRICKIN' WRONG!

The right-to-die/euthanasia situation is hardly at issue when you are
starving/dehydrating someone to death.  If they aren't there (PVS), what's
wrong with the pink juice?  If they are there, hell, what's wrong with the
pink juice?

Starving and dehydration are terrible ways to suffer in death.  Ask at
least a million people in Africa.
