Cracked Ribs

Thread rating: |
tech27 - 17 Feb 2005 16:50 GMT I cracked a rib or two about 3 months ago. The medical line was that there is nothing that can be done except addictive pain killers and/or NSAID's that are being pulled off the market every second day. Wrapping is a no-no as it causes shallow breathing and associated lung problems this brings.
Problem is I get better, then some activity which does not seem painful at the time causes the pain to flare up again. When in this mode if I even cough it causes a serious re-injury. Last night I coughed suddenly while getting up (I was bent over), and I could here a "pop" in the lower back where the injury is. The pain is excruciating. I can't breathe and collapse. Last night I couldn't even get up and came close to fainting while trying to get off the floor.
Is there any course of investigation or treatment available or do I just have to bear it and super protect myself for months and months waiting for it to heal?
Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions.
Andrew B. Chung, MD/PhD - 17 Feb 2005 18:33 GMT There is prayer.
You will be in my prayers, dear neighbor, whom I love, in Christ's name.
May you accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior, someday, so that you too will have eternal life and the limitlessly interesting riches of His everlasting kingdom.

Please note that God truly made this special link describing that He is the great "I am" and that His message is as simple as the number 2 which is a number between 1 to 9 and reminds us of His 2 commandments, the 2 arms of the cross, the 2nd part of the Trinity, the 2 finger sign of the Prince of Peace [who remains *V*ictorious over death and satan], and the 2PD Approach. Let it not ever be written that Christ did not make His presence known here on Usenet :-)
Also, note that Exodus 16:16 continues to remind us that 16 oz plus 16 oz makes 2 pounds, which is "a certain measure of weight," which is what "omer" literally means in Hebrew.

BTW, is this the best you have to offer? If so, do you bother to treat patients anymore? And, if so, why the f.ck don't you offer some advice that comes from a world where claims for treatments can be falsified?

Your claim for the best treatment can't be tested nor falsified. Know what that means?

He's not taking any new patients till the Second Coming, but might squeeze me in between WWIII and the Apocalypse. I asked HIM about *Dr* Chung and you could tell from HIS voice HE was disturbed. Muttered something like, "Oh Christ, don't remind me, that was one of Satan's".

Again, Lord Christ teaches from Matthew 5:
11Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
You will remain in my prayers, dear neighbor, whom I love, in Lord Christ's holy name.

I once suffered two cracked ribs due to a bad fall. Confirmed by X-rays, etc. The only therapy was pain killers and a wrap.
I lost a week of work and had a bad month, but none of this "excruciating pain after 3 months" stuff. You might want to go back for some more medical advice and/or X-rays. Your problems seem unreasonable.
On therapies: Unfortunately, there are no quick-fix therapies for such things in ribs and toes. Pain killers and protection till it heals by itself.
Ummm. . .those of us with rampant arthritis have a different view of pain killers. You may see things differently as you age.

Nothing against pain killers here. My concern was that besides being potentially harmful, they only address the symptom, not the cause. Their use for chronic pain management is an entirely different thing and I have no problems with them providing relief for sufferers.
