"Fifth disease"

My daughter was checked by her pediatrician yesterday and the
presumptive diagnosis was "Fifth" disease.  (The school nurse was
concerned by a differential diagnosis of scarlet fever, but my daughter
had a throat swab negative for strep).
She was of course thrilled to hear that she could return to school
today. ;-)
    This site
http://www.drreddy.com/shots/fifth.html

states the reasons for calling erythema infectiosum "fifth disease" is
historic; but apparently fourth disease was a putative "Duke's disease"
which is no longer accepted as a distinct clinical entity.
Shouldn't that move fifth and sixth disease up one place?  And couldn't
some enterprising clinician get their name on that virus?

In truth, the answer is "no" for both of your questions.

You will be in my prayers, dear Steve, whom I love, in Christ's name.

May you accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior, someday, so that
you too will have eternal life and the limitlessly interesting riches
of His everlasting kingdom.

Here's how:

Please note that God truly made this special link describing that He is
the great "I am" and that His message is as simple as the number 2
which is a number between 1 to 9 and reminds us of His 2 commandments,
the 2 arms of the cross, the 2nd part of the Trinity, the 2 finger sign
of the Prince of Peace [who remains *V*ictorious over death and satan],
and the 2PD Approach.  Let it not ever be written that Christ did not
make His presence known here on Usenet :-)

Also, note that Exodus 16:16 continues to remind us that 16 oz plus 16
oz makes 2 pounds, which is "a certain measure of weight," which is
what "omer" literally means in Hebrew.

No, there are too many names already. The virus is "parvovirus B19", and
"fifth disease" is already also called "erythema infectiosum" and
"slapped cheeks disease".

Maybe we should give up on names altogether, though I suppose taxonomy
could be a problem.
Incidentally, our daughter had sixth disease (roseola) at age one--and
was really quite ill.  Luckily, she's missed first through fourth.

There is no such thing as luck, neighbor.

All praises belong to God, Whom I love with all my heart, soul, mind,
and strength :-)

You will remain in my prayers, dear Steve, whom I love, in Lord
Christ's holy name.

May you accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior, someday, so that
you too will have eternal life and the wonderful riches of His
everlasting kingdom.
