Hi,
I have to make a presentation to my boss and
it's nerve-racking. I'd like to have a few shorts to
calm my nerves - is ther any drink that would not make
my breath smell, considering I'll be in a small room
for about an hour. Someone said vodka and coke, but
I'm not sure about that,
thanks,
Jen

The classic answer to this question:

A boss was lecturing his salesmen one day.   He told them that if they
want to drink at lunch,  be sure to drink something that leaves a smell.
That way,  during the afternoon business, the customers will think that they
are drunk,  not stupid.

A few snorts before giving a presentation is a good way to look stupid in
front of your boss.

In the unlikely even this post is not a troll, I'd say that you have a
serious alcohol problem and you should strongly consider a treatment program
and AA. If it's not a troll, it's one of the stupidest posts I've seen here
in a while (bearing in mind that I have people like Todd Gastaldo
killfiled).

About 5-8% of the alcohol you consume is eliminated in your breath. This has
a very characteristic odor (acetic acid) and is completely independant of
what the flavoring of the original drink smelled like. Take enough alcohol
to "feel relaxed" and you can be certain your boss will know.

Ethyl alcohol / ethanol is metabolized into ethanal also known as
acetaldehyde. Indeed there are three metabolic
pathways to ethanal from ethanol.
It sure doesn't smell like acetic acid:-)
Yeah, I've smelled it both coming from drunks and in the lab.

That reminds me, I had a question..........I should check the text here at
arms reach............the average of ethanol elimination is a 100 mg
per kilogram per hour.......... so 70 kilograms time 100 mg yields
7 grams per hour.

Its time for a beer................JQ

Hi,

I have an employee, jenniferdouvale@yahoo.com, who is so stupid she needs to
have a few snorts before making a presentation to me.
My question is: Is it possible that she can drink something that I won't be
able to smell? I'd like to know if she is pissed for the presentation so I
can call her into my office afterwards and confront her about her drinking,
hoping that she will be too drunk or just to scared to fend off my anal sex
advances.

Thanks

Listen Jenny, if you are that nervous just get some Valium, Lorazepam or
something like that. Or just find another job. I'm sure there are lots of
companies who would treasure a smart girl like you who can't do a
presentation without being medicated or drunk. But really, don't worry about
how you smell. That's going to be the least of your worries. If you really
are that stupid, you have much bigger problems than nerves.

Anyway, there's nothing you could do in your presentation that a bl.wj.b
can't fix.

Eh?   How many drinks you had tonight, tech?

Either it was a troll or an honest question.  I'm not sure which, but either
way that response was uncalled for.

The answer to her question is no.  Alcohol will smell on your breath no
matter what you drink.  Relax, prepare your presentation well, and you'll do
fine.  Alcohol won't help.

I agree.

For all we know, this may be a young lady who is making her first
presentation in front of her group. I am glad that she asked the question,
rather than try her suggestion without asking.

I hope she lets us know how her persentation went.

As I recall, she had already decided to drink before her presentation, she
just wanted to know what booze won't smell on her breath. I guess she posted
here by mistake instead of alt.closetdrinkers.aaa
