Do diuretics plus low salt diet spell danger?

I take a diuretic (25 mg chlorthalidone) and and ACE inhibitor (20 mg
lisinopril) for my bp each day. I've also started a moderately low salt diet
(2000 mg salt/day). But since diuretics take salt out of the body anyway, is
there any risk my body will lose too much salt if, say, I'm playing
full-court basketball and sweating hard? Could I collapse? I read somewhere
that low body salt hinders exercise ability- is that true?

Also, how much of the 2000 mg/day salt I eat will be forced out of my
kidneys by the diuretic? I.e. am I eating the equivalent of 1000 mg salt a
day because of the diuretic? 1500? 500?

Thanks,

Jason

Not really for someone with hypertension.

Folks with hypertension have a tendency to hold on to sodium.

This will vary.

Food naturally has sodium so that your sodium intake will depend on the
amount of food you eat.

You are welcome.

All praises to God, Whom I love with all my being :-)
