Hi,
Some time ago I had an inguinal hernia operation, removing one
testicle, how will it effect my health in general and sex life in
particular. Well, I am an athelete also, how will it effect my life. I
want to also mention that I feel pain at the place where i had the
operation and I am scared. Its gone worse now. If anyone can please
help me out it would be nice.
I am 20 and had the op in march 2003.

Why was the testicle removed during a hernia operation?

Read up on the "Femoral Triangle".
There are a lot of nerves in that area (branches of the femoral nerve).
e.g. obturator, lateral cutaneous nerve, which could become injured (or
have adhesions/scar tissue), from a surgery.
This would be called a neuralgia -- it is a burning sensation along the
nerve path.
Does this sound like your case?
I have a similar injury myself to the area via a Psoas muscle rupture, so
i have become a bit of an unwilling expert in the subject of groin
innervation.
I have only found two treatments that work: (a) anti-convulsants, and (b)
LLLT (gallium-arsenide laser) done by the higher-tech physiotherapy
clinics. (e.g. it is endorsed by some of the Olympic teams, actually.)
IME, Pain clinics are a joke. Anesthetists just don't have the physical
therapy and physical medicine training to diagnose most pain very well.
They just want to do Pills and Needles -- not treat the real cause of the
problem.
Email me if you need LLLT treatment specifics.
