I've been searching the web and usenet, and I am not coming up with
anything.

My sister has had several episodes today where a bright yellow liquid
has dripped from her nose. It is nothing like mucous. It is clear, and
more like stomach bile than nasal discharge.

She;s planning to go to the doctor on Monday, but this has me worried.
I have never heard of such a thing.

Any ideas what it might be? Does this sound like something serious?
Thank you.

It would be mucus, white cells, and various microorganisms
such Streptococcus pneumoniae, other streptcocci, Haemophilus
influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Moraxella catarrhalis..
The symptom is called rhinorrhea.
It is one of the symptoms for a sinus infection.
She might have prevented it, had she used
a spray nasal decongestant just as her
nasal passages started to close up due to the
cold she had. Lets hope the sinus infection
doesn't progress too fast. Do you have a walk in clinic
in your area?

It is like yellow water. This is not mucous at all.  This is not normal
runny nose, but something completely different.

It looks like urine, except it is coming out of her nose, a few drops
at a time, just dripping out suddenly like a nosebleed.

How about a little history? Is your sister 10 years old or 70? Has she
had a recent head injury. Is it really coming out that fast ALL the
time, for hours on end?

She is 37 years old. No head injuries. She did have a cold last week,
but that has been over for several days.

Not gushing out. Just a sudden onset of probably 2-10 drops worth. But
suddenly dripping out with no warning. She came running into the
bathroom for a kleenex, and I could see it dripping off her nose. It
happened 6 or 7 times yesterday. Seems to be better today.

The main thing was that it was nothing like congestion. It wasn't thick
or pale. But very bright, and translucent  like water.

She also has some pressure abive the nose, like typical sinus pressure.
Nobody thought anything about that since we have all been having sinus
problems this week. The weather keeps changing, and that seems to
bother us. My sister has just had the pressure, but my dad, nephew, and
I  have all had a few headaches this week. But we are all over that.
