Information about Dr. Beatrice Golomb's Statin Effects Study is now
available at this website:

Statin Effects Study
http://medicine.ucsd.edu/SES/index.htm

The Statin Effects Study is an observational study which documents the
experience of approximately 1,000 people who have reported serious
adverse reaction from statins. This study is ongoing.

The NIH funded UCSD Statin Study is Golomb's major clinical trial
looking at statins and quality of life. Golomb and her team are
presently analyzing data collected over the past five years. This
study is finished.

Information and articles from the NIH Statin Study and the Statin
Effects Study will be disseminated within the next year.

Share Your Experience

We are seeking to get systematic information from people who have had
adverse responses to statins or to other cholesterol-lowering drugs,
and also from people who have done well on these drugs. We can learn
from this information, perhaps gaining a better understanding of who
may be at risk and who will do well with statins; and what to expect
in people who develop adverse effects (e.g. how quick or long recovery
may take; what factors predict or facilitate recovery).

Share your experience with us, via a questionnaire. This will help us
understand peoples' experiences with statins, so that we may share the
information with others. Currently we cannot administer the
questionnaire over the internet. Therefore if you are interested in
contributing to our research with information about your experiences
on statins we would love to hear from you via e-mail or telephone (we
will call you back to administer the questionnaire).

Our e-mail address is: statinstudy@ucsd.edu

Our phone number is: (858) 558-4950 x 207

OUR QUESTIONNAIRE
Our questionnaire is currently unavailable over the internet. If you
call us at (858) 558-4950 x 207 and leave your name and number, one of
our trained interviewers will contact you and either mail the
questionnaire or administer it over the telephone. You may also
contact us by e-mail at statinstudy@ucsd.edu
