Dear friends and colleagues,

It is our pleasure to invite you to take part in the first international
congress to deal with all types of bone and soft tissue sarcoma across
all age groups.

Amongst our review of diagnostic procedures we will discuss how soft
tissue, osteo- and Ewing's sarcoma can benefit from the new
opportunities afforded by advances in tumor genetics. This is of course
important not only for defining the correct diagnosis and prognosis but
also the control of treatment. When looking at the latest radiological
techniques we will include the uses and advantages of whole body MRI and
PET scans.

We will focus on local and systemic control and consider the
implications of combining interdisciplinary treatments and discuss the
functional and cosmetic impact of treatments on patients' quality of
life. We will also consider the risk of toxic poisoning, late effects
and second malignancies.

Our key speakers, chairmen and scientific committee members are
internationally renowned experts in the fields of paediatric and adult
oncology, orthopaedic, plastic and general surgery, radiotherapy,
radiology, nuclear medicine and molecular biology.

This unique meeting will provide exciting new insights into working
practice, diagnosis and treatment, and we very much hope that you will
be able to join us.

The main theme of SMS 2005 is to provide an inter-disciplinary forum for
the sharing of knowledge between practitioners involved in all types of
bone and soft tissue sarcoma, in children, adolescents and adults.

Congress Objectives

    * Define standards and identify problems in diagnosis
    * Examine latest clinical study results
    * Explore new treatment possibilities
    * Introduce new therapy protocols including new joint protocols for
treatment of tumours in adolescents and adults.
