I have a personal, somewhat embarrassing question.

When I was a young kid, my testicles would often rise up out of the scrotum
and then reappear. I could slight push above my waist and the testicle would
easily drop down also. When I was around 8 or 9, I experienced bad pain in
the groin area when playing basketball, which went away quickly. However for
a few days after my testicle would rise up out of the scrotum when I ran.
This stopped as well, however ever since then my right testicle will hang
lower and "out more" from the left. Meaning it not only hangs lower, but
when i'm standing, holding my penis us and looking down at the scrotum, the
right side of the scrotum is "out" further than the left and it is always
like this.

I have never had any lumps or anything on my waist, pain, or anything
related to this. However it feels like there is more "stuff" on the right
side of the scrotum behind my testcile than on the left, something is
obviously causing it to hang out more, which is more noticable when the
scrotum is loose. I also notice that before I have a bowel movement, the
right testcle seems to sit properly in the scrotum, even, unlike how it
hangs "out more" regularly.

For the longest time I had no idea what the problem is, although from
reading on the web it seems like some kind of hernia or tear. Thankfully I'm
27 now and I guess it is not life threatening. I have no problems
ejaculating, or any other dyfunction. It just bothers me and feels awkward
to me, and I'd like some advice on what it could be and how I can get it
checked out. I don't have a primary care doctor and feel very embarrassed
and uncomfortable going to the doctor. Would a Urologist be a better answer?
I am very uncomfortable even thinking about it, reading about it, I start to
feel light headed. Once I passed out even when they tried to put me alseep
taking my wisdom teeth out -- lol.

thanks for all responses.

sounds like to me that your (what's it called?) inguinal canal that your balls
had used to use to communicate from your ballsack up to your insides, that
inguinal canal has been allowed (almost through intentional, continued use) to
keep open. I remember reading about oriental karate experts who would purposely
keep this canal passage open (for the balls to be raised out of the sack and
back into the body), so that they could be protected from "racking" kicks in
karate combat. I don't really see this, adult preservation of that canal
opening, as being a negative. But, if it annoys you...you likely could have it
attended to.

This is a fairly classic description of a "retractile" testis. Hypertrophy
or overactivity of the cremasteric muscle fibers that are associated with
the spermatic cord and responsible for pulling the testicle up closer to the
body when it gets cold or when in danger. It can be operated on, but the
only real good reason to do that would be if it keeps the testicles too warm
for spermatogenesis.

More "stuff" in the scrotum could be a lot of things, but in the absence of
an actual lump or nodule on the testicle itself, it's unlikely to be
significant. You should consider seeing a doctor for the brief exam
necessary to reassure you. A urologist would be appropriate.

The only thing that bothers me is not that the testicle hangs lower, but it
hangs out more when I stand straight up, which at times makes me feel uneven
and awkward. Check out this wonderful drawing:

          right
        ------
-----
left

That's what i generally see when I look down at my scrotum when I stand up.
The right side sticks out more (not as close to my body as the left) because
there's more stuff on this side that should be in my body and not my
scrotum. If I bend over (to pick something up, lol) when my scrotum is
loose, it's even more pronounced. Just befoer I have a bowel movement, the
scrotum is tighter and close to even.
