Updated safety information regarding Crestor®
OTTAWA - Health Canada wishes to advise Canadians of safety concerns about Crestor®, a cholesterol lowering drug, when used at the highest recommended dosage of 40 mg daily. The risk of rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown) may be increased at higher doses. Health Canada recommends that all patients taking Crestor®, or any cholesterol lowering drug, should be using the lowest dose that will meet their treatment goal.
Health Canada is actively reviewing the safety profile associated with rosuvastatin (Crestor®), particularly the 40 mg dose, and is in receipt of additional safety information provided by its manufacturer, AstraZeneca Canada Inc.
In June 2004, Health Canada posted a Public Advisory about an association between Crestor and rhabdomyolysis, a rare but serious muscle disorder. The same month, AstraZeneca Canada Inc. issued a Dear Healthcare Professional Letter to advise Canadian healthcare professionals of this information.
Rhabdomyolysis is a condition that results in muscle breakdown and the release of muscle cell contents into the bloodstream. Symptoms of rhabdomyolysis include muscle pain, weakness, muscle tenderness, fever, dark urine, nausea, and vomiting. In severe cases, rhabdomyolysis can result in kidney failure and can be life-threatening.
Since June 2004, Health Canada has received a further 6 reports of rhabdomyolysis in patients using Crestor® which are under assessment.
All patients taking Crestor®, or any cholesterol lowering drug, are advised to report any unexplained muscle pain, muscle weakness or cramps, or any brown or discoloured urine, to their physician immediately.

COMMENT:
Katie usually felt fine, had no problems to fix, And her grandparents all lived past ninety and six,
But they drew her blood anyway, just to see how it was, And they looked at the lipids and started to buzz---
They'd have been fine last year, but standards had changed And the new limits now put them quite out of range,
So the doctor said "Katie, get that LDL low; You'll have to look at your food and say 'NO.'
So Katie tried Ornish, and then she tried Atkins And then she did South Beach and went to Camp Fatkins
And the more foods she gave up, the more cravings she got And her weight, though once stable, now skywardly shot.
So she ran and she ran, though a gray awful city And her soul filled her up with the cruelest self-pity
And so desperate and anxious, but still not quite ill She finally asked for a fix in a pill,
"Why, I have just the thing," said her doc to her then, "It's the newest drug out, with a rocket-ship pen!"
"Oh, the pill on TV!" exclaimed Katie hard, "With the comforting verses from Jean-Luc Picard"
"And they sound like that book with the Green Eggs and Ham Which is what all those diets are like, where I am."
"Would you like to try it?" said the doctor, "You could..." "Why yes," said Katie, "Why yes, yes I would."
And a door to a meadow now opened; birds sang And the door to the ghetto went shut with a bang
And the sunshine poured out from the drugs in the bottles: Katie's LDL dropped like a vomiting model's.
And from then on, she ate what she jolly-well pleased, And quit running, and saved what was left of her knees.
And she happily exclaimed, going back to her life: "I'm so glad that I'm done with cholesterol strife;
"My legs, they still ache, and I can't feel my feet, And my urine's as pink as the time I ate beets,
"But at last, I now have my LDL LOW, And I've finally escaped from the foul land of 'NO'.
"And I won't have to die now of heart attack brewing--- I'm SO glad that somebody knows what they're doing!"

So instead of giving up on foods, she started to eat less She got a little hungrier but her health did God bless
Soon her blood pressure and cholesterol had come down On top of that, she could wear last year's gown :-)
"Katie, how did you do it?" they wanted to broach The answer was simply the 2PD Approach !
:-) Why do I care?
It is written in Ephesians 2:
10For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
All is a waste of time until you find the way to eternal life with the Creator of the universe. When you do, there is no waste of time because there will be an infinite amount of it. Walking about aimlessly thinking it is *your* time, *your* money, *your* lot, *your* labor, *your* profit, and *your* power that you are using is tantamount to self-worship.
For Christ lights up the way through John 14:
6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me..."
This bring us back again to the following very simple decision tree for the untruthful folks such as yourself, Steve, who have chosen to walk in the "dark":
(1) Accept Christ. Risk: Nothing.
Benefits: Salvation, purposeful life, eternal life, unimaginable riches in God's eternal kingdom.
(2) Reject Christ. Risk: Eternal separation from God. Eternal torment of your soul by satan.
Benefits: Nothing.
Again, one has to conclude that those (ie you, Carey, Bob, Zee, Frank, Hawki, Rolando, Don et al) who would reject Christ have not thought out their decision *logically*.
Would suggest you cast a glance at Bob Pastorio as a special example of untruthfully eloquent self-worship (BTW, Bob remains in my prayers out of Christian love) who is being driven to madness by my ignoring him (http://makeashorterlink.com/?V29A236C9 and more recently http://makeashorterlink.com/?K50B237D9). All this power belongs to God who has judged Bob Pastorio with His Word (http://makeashorterlink.com/?G33F51E69). All praises to Him, Whom I love with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength :-)
You will be in my prayers, dear Steve whom I love, in Christ's holy name.
May you accept Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, someday, so that you too will escape satan's rule and torment of your soul after you die.
Please do consider the following as your logic should dictate before it is too late:

(Please note that God truly made this special link describing that He is the great "I am" and that His message is as simple as the number 2 which is a number between 1 to 9 and reminds us of His 2 commandments, the 2 arms of the cross, the 2nd part of the Trinity, the 2 finger sign of the Prince of Peace [who remains *V*ictorious over death and satan], and the 2PD Approach. Let it not ever be written that Christ did not make His presence known here on Usenet :-)

Andrew

However, the actor who plays Picard and who intones his part on the Crestor advert was more recently carted off to OR for emergency bypass surgery.

Patrick Stewart did receive angioplasty in August of this year so it is likely he knows firsthand the risks of elevated serum cholesterol and the benefits of lowering this.

She may say "Come on honey more ...More"....he pants... goes to the rest room and takes a trimix shot, now good for another hour ride.
