Hi everyone... not sure if I'm posting this in the right group, but
I've tried Googling my symptom and got no messages that perfectly
match what I have.
I'm a 28 year old male, and I have a feeling of 'tightness' in the
left hand side of my chest, about 2 inches below my heart. It's pretty
hard to explain, but it feels like someone has reached inside me and
is gripping muscles or something in there pretty tight!
I've had it more or less constantly for the last 2-3 years, and it
gets worse when I'm tired.
I've asked my doctor about it a couple of times, and he seemes to
think it may be a condition related to acid-heartburn which I also
suffer from time to time, with. However, this condition (which I can't
remember the name of <D'OH!> produces this tight sensation at
different points along the digestive tract, and my tight feeling is in
EXACTLY the same location, and never moves!
I also suffer from anxiety (specifically social-phobia) which *might*
explain this, but I have this ALL THE TIME, not just when I'm in
social situations... also I presume that if it was axiety-related,
then it would be a tight sensation across my whole chest - not just
this specific spot?!
I was worried that it may be a problem with an artery or something
going into the bottom of my heart, but when I mentioned this to my doc
he didn't think it was likely...
I know the obvious answer is to go see my doc again, but he seems set
on the problem being with my digestive-tract and suggested an
endoscopy (camera down the throat?) last time which I'm not too keen
on, unless I'm sure it would help diagnose my condition.
I also sweat real easy and excessively, which may or may not be
related to this?
Thanks for taking the time to read all of this... I must sound like a
medical reference book with all these symptoms! LOL
If anyone has had a condition like this before, or has an idea of what
it may be, I'd love to hear from you...
Thanks in advance!
Chris

A dissecting aortic aneurism, a slow growing tumor, or about a dozen other
things.
If your doc won't investigate to your satisfaction, ask him to refer you to
someone who will. It's not something to be ignored.
