Whey would an artery or vein be swolen?

On the left side of my face, actually
right in the little dip of the jawbone, where
the facial artery comes around and up to the face,

it's sore.
not painfull all the time,
only if I slightly press on it.

it's sore for about two inches up from that point, I
can actually feel ant trace it under the skin.
any idea's what would cause this?

The course of the facial artery is over the body of the mandible and
lies over (among other structures) the parotid gland.  It is not unusual
to get stones or inflammation of the gland, and you may be confusing a
mild parotiditis with tenderness of an artery.
Of course, if you are pressing the artery against the ramus of the
mandible it may become sore too, so why do that?
If you're concerned, have it checked by your physician or dentist.
