I'm looking for an opinion from someone with medical training/experience.
I've seen 6 different doctors, so far resulting in $150 in wasted
medication. I'm waiting to see a urologist and dermatologist in a few weeks.
Symptoms started with slight burning 30 minutes after a sexual encounter and
have lasted 4 months:
- urethritis, slight discharge, slight burning on urination
- soon after epididymitis & dull pain in bladder, then prostatitis
- sharp shooting pains in penis that spread to testicles and lower abdomen
for first couple months
- pale discolored patch on foreskin only where it covers urethral opening
about 1/2 inch
- small dark blotchy spots around urethra opening
Antibiotics that have had no effect whatsoever: Ampicillin, erythromycin,
ciprofloxacin
Tests that have been negative: Chlamydia/gonorrhea (x3), urine culture (x3),
common STDs (not sure which ones), blood tests (x3, not sure exactly what
was tested for)
After 6 hours of reading on the web mycoplasma/ureaplasma infection seems to
fit my symptoms and situation (from my non-educated point of view). Im going
to ask to be tested on my tuesday appointment. If anyone can offer an
opinion Im grateful, id like to go to the doctor with as much knowledge as I
can. So far my approach of asking blindly for help has resulted in
condescension, another round of useless chlamydia tests or urine cultures,
and assurances that its not fatal, followed immediately by a strong urge to
beat a doctor to death with my fists. Oh yeah, I'm getting pretty frustrated
too.
I'm 24yo male, one sexual partner in last 8 months, she complained of
bladder infection before I was infected, which she says cleared up
afterwards, but has had recurring yeast infection for the last 4 months.

Yet you said you've already taken erythromycin which didn't help.

It was called "eryc", which is erythromycin? I didnt know that erythromycin
will stop ureaplasma, I keep reading tetracycline is used to treat it. Ive
also read that its commonly resistant to antibiotics and can take months to
be rid of.
Im getting a pelvic ultrasound next week, what other tests could I ask for?

You say your friend has had a recurrent yeast infection. Maybe what you have is
mycotic, not bacterial?

Please post any tests related to the male urinary tract... Ive had every
test I know of. My next step is to make appointments with every office in
town (about 10), and ask for full range of tests and referal to specialists.
This is a huge drain on the system but Im at the end of my rope and dont
care at this point.
