Closing the gap

The achievement gap, shown by results from the state's mandatory
reading exams in 2003, is large ...about 94 percent of the district's
white students passed the third-grade tests compared with 69 percent
of African-American children and 61 percent of Hispanics. The results
for all grade levels in the county reveal slightly smaller gaps,
largely because of remediation efforts after third grade.

I'd love to see the "remediation efforts" they're talking about.
Probably consists of forcing the poorer 3rd grade DAFNz to
drop out...the secret of doing well on the 4th grade tests is
not to let the pproblem kids get to the 4th grade...

Of course!  It's not just test scores we're talking about.  It's the
elimination (or at least the reduction,) of the deleterious effect
imposed upon those who would learn by those who cannot.

Of course our teachers, graduates of the current nonsensical,
irrational, fad-driven schools of education, who believe that
pedagogic skills (i.e., one's ability to function well as a prison
guard,) are more important than MERE CONTENT KNOWLEDGE would disagree.

For these pathetic souls, teaching IS classroom management.  If it
were ever the case that teaching WERE content knowledge, they would
all be flipping burgers.

I could produce one thousand Ph.D.'s in maths & sciences within 30
days to teach schools if disruptive students were expelled.  They
would do a better job of teaching the remaining students.

The only reason the current teachers exist, in spite of their pathetic
qualifications (e.g., only a B.Sc. in their area,) is because
knowledge is unimportant - only classroom management and "feel good"
watered down, flabby, useless curricula.

If mathematics were a color, what color would it be?  I have had
gifted classes (grade 10) who do not understand the proper use of
parentheses in simple arithmetic expressions, e.g., 10(1+1)=10*1+1 =
101.  In this example, a gifted class had a 54% correct response.

I am sorry for ranting, but this is intolerable.  Our schools of
education must be expunged.  Even then, it will probably take at least
four generations to repair the damage done to the United States of
America.  Some would call it TREASON!
