pins and needles in left pinky

About an hour ago I was lying on the couch on my back when I noticed
the feeling of pins and needles in my left pinky.  It's still there.
My husband and I spend half of our lives going to doctors and I don't
want to go running to mine if this isn't serious.

What could cause this?  I have no pain in my elbow or shoulder.  I use
the mouse with my right hand.  The only other thing that I do
repetitively is swim.  I swim 20 laps every day.

I do take lots of meds for chronic low back pain, but I've been on all
of them for years.  There are only two things that I have started in
the past week - Tamiflu until yesterday (turns out I had a bad cold,
not the flu) and Delsym, a cough suppressant.

I am a 62 year old female.

This is kind of scary.

Yes I had read about this but I got the impression that it was usually
accompanied by discomfort in the elbow.  I have not bumped my elbow
and it doesn't hurt at all.

I've had pins & needles just from lying on the floor propped up on my
elbows.  It doesn't have to come from impact.

Yes, but it usually goes away in a few minutes.  This isn't.

Quit leaning. You're causing permanent damage to the nerve.

In the case I'm thinking of, it took a couple of days to go away.

It's gone.  It went away some time the next day.

What part of the pinky? The whole thing or just part of it? Top and
bottom or just top or bottom? How long does it take for the skin under
the nail to become pink after the nail is pressed down (it should become
white when you press the nail and pink again when you let off)? How
about for other fingers?

Hi Jeff,

It's only the outer side of the pinky.  Feels like the entire side.
The skin returns to pink in about 1/2 second.  Other fingers may come
back very slightly faster, but not enough for me to measure.
