Basal cell carcinoma

Last Mar 2007,  on my 49 birthday, I decided to go to a
local skin doctor and have a complete body exam done.

She found a small spot on my inside right calf and
excised a small biopsy. I never heard anything back so
assumed it was OK

Just out of curiosity, I called them today and told
them its been 6 months and haven't heard anything back

They called back and said that it was indeed a basal
cell carcinoma and for me to come in for more
"treatment"

Sheesh!!!

I sure don't need the worry or expense of this right
now!

Anyone have this done? Advice?

That's incompetence for them not to notify you right away, but why did YOU
wait six months to call and ask about the pathology report.  You should not
only ask, but get a copy of all blood tests, scans, procedure notes,
pathology reports, etc...Pete

Agree

My fault as much as theirs!!

But what do I do now?

Am I in danger?

I have meeting with doctor come Thursday PM

Should I get second opinions?

Yeah, it sounds like they need to buff up their followup procedures. No harm
done in this case though - don't worry. Basal cell skin cancer is a very
"benign" form of cancer. The 6 month interval between biopsy and definitive
treatment will almost certainly have no effect on its curability. Go get it
definitively removed -- everything should be just fine.

Ok thanks guys I'm feeling a bit better abt it now
after talking to you all.

Question tho..... its on my right inside calf just
below knee area. How in the heck did it get there?!

I would have thought more likely to find a spot say on
my shoulder or face or arms or something!!
