Hi,

I would like to know how successful the new non-smoking law was in the
UK.

In other countries (Spain, Ireland) the law was quite sucessful and it
did make a difference.

On a personal level: -
It seems to have worked on the whole. The one major problem i have
experienced is the large crowd of smokers congregating at entrances to
pubs or other public buildings. You get covered in smoke before you
can get into the smoke free building.  I though the law included
entrances but is obviously not widely known by the public and/or not
enforced.

But overall the amount of passive smoke i receive has dropped a lot.

I guess it will take some time to gather data and see if any national
health benefits result. These studies will be quite interesting i
think. Eg. number of people quitting increased etc etc. sale of
Niquitin increasing etc - these 2 could be done quite quickly.

Best for those living other UK nations other than England who have had
the law a little longer.

Many thanks for your feedback. I hope this law is the first and gets
reinforced in the future.
