My aging mother is in the hospital. She is running a high white cell
count around 29000.Doctor says that they have run out of anibotics to
fight the infection.
How long can she maintain life if they are unable to fight the
infection. She has all sorts of other issues ,but am concerned with
fighting infections.

Unfortunately, you have not provided enough background medical history,
lab tests, etc., to tell us what is going on.

The best people to ask this question to is the doctors taking care of her.

Well, Jeff is right, and......

What is she infected with and where did she get it?

Does she have a VRE or some other nasty creature that has become
antiobiotic resistant or is she in MLK Hospital in Los Angeles and
they have run out of antiobiotics because they spent their money on
tofu?

Antibiotics come in 2 basic flavors - bacteriostat and bacteriocide.
If she has run the course of all bacteriostats, perhaps a bacteriocide
will work?

But, unless she is in a hospital without an infectious disease unit
(in which case you should move her to a hospital that has one) - they
will know what to do.

When she gets home, make her start ingesting lots of ascorbic acid
(vitamin C) and also 1 drop of PURE oil of Oregano daily.  My current
research at the Univ. of Houston is on phytochemical antibiotics and
pure oil of oregano has been as effective as penicillin and
streptomycin on some of our cell lines.

Hope she gets better soon!
