http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/common/pain/disorders/023.html

"Symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome
...Numbness or tingling in your hand and fingers, especially the thumb
and index and middle fingers.
...Pain in your wrist, palm or forearm.
...More numbness or pain at night than during the day. The pain may be
so bad it wakes you up. You may shake or rub your hand to get relief.
...More pain when you use your hand or wrist more.
...Trouble gripping objects.
...Weakness in your thumb. "

Hope that helps.....

Could be a vascular constriction caused by a certain sleeping position, or a
nerve compression with similar source.

If you are diabetic, heavy drinker, or exposed to toxic chemicals, this can
exacerbate neuro symptoms such as this.

I would try sleeping in a position not usual to you.

well,, im not a diebetic, a drinker, or exposed to chemicals.. lol... I sleep
in every position I can but nothing helps half the time.. sometimes If I hang
my left hand, (which is the one that hurts) offf the side of the bed hanging
down while IM on my stomach, so my hand is vertical to the floor, sometimes
this will help it for a min, or until I put it back up on the bed,, no
position helps,, and its getting worse.
I dred going to bed at night now, because I dknow what to expect.. and thats
pretty bad.. cuz I loveeeeee my sleep!!! LOL

Try some kind of anti-inflammatory before bed, and get a wrist splint. Most
medical supply places have then - even many drug stores. Wear it to bed.
That would be the typical first step in treating presumed carpal tunnel
syndrome. See a doctor - if your symptoms can't be controlled with splint
and NSAIDS, a visit to a neurologist for electromyograms (EMG) would be the
next step, then maybe injection of the carpal tunnel as well as *complete*
rest, 24/7 use of the wrist splint and an occupational therapy consult.
Then - surgery.
