Hello

I wonder if anyone could give me some advice regarding the normal
healing after the above operation?

My mother who is 74 had an operation in two parts to correct Tibialis
posterior dysfunction: the first was on the on the heel and the second
on the tendon.

The operation was in mid-January 2007, and now after 4 months we are
surprised and worried to observe that:

- her ankle is still collapsed, with the arch of the foot pressing
into the ground as she walks (since the operation she can now only
walk with the aid of a stick)
- there is localised pain in her heel when she walks on it (which was
not there prior to the operation)
- her foot, ankle and lower leg to the knee are swollen
- her leg is much pinker than the other leg

Is this a normal recovery from the operation? It seems strange, in
particular, that the ankle is still collapsed.

Please can someone offer us any guidance or advice?

Charles
